So the new hunter talents are up and a few of the new abilities. I feel that there is still too much ambiguity to tell which tree will be the best raiding option, BM or MM, but Survival wasn't given enough love to be competitive in my opinion. With Wild Quiver, Improved Steady Shot, and Marked for Death, MM will see quite a large damage increase using a Steady, Kill, Auto rotation. Chimera Shot sounds interesting, but it's only real raid utility will be the Scorpid Sting effect to help reduce tank damage. BM on the other hand got Aspect Mastery, Longevity, and Cobra Strikes, which I feel are less exciting, but the possibility of the Beast Mastery 51 pt. talent allowing exotic pets to be tamed could be huge if those pets come with powerful abilities and/or higher damage than normal pets. Survival gets some worthless crap like Potent Venom and Point of No Escape and the situational Sniper Training and Explosive Shot. The only real boon here is the utility from Hunting Party. The proc should occur every 8-10 seconds with Survival's high crit rate. So a 12000 mana caster would get 240 mana every 8-10 seconds or 24-30 mp5, so decent but nothing that fantastic for being such a deep talent. Any of you other hunters have any feelings on this stuff?

PvP spec of the future.

Blizzard seems to actually be fixing Hunter and Paladin PvP in WoLK. I might have to level my hunter first

new abilities too.

kill shot: 6 sec cd. instant. wep dmg + RAP*0.15 + 325. ads 900ish dmg if target <20% health.

bear trap: trap. root for 10secs w/ RAP*0.1 +1575 dmg. chance to break with dmg.

OOOOOOOOOOOOH BEJEEZUS!

Oh...and the new rank of viper sting....3100 drain untalented. add improved stings and I'll be burning 4000. Then chim near the end of the sting for +30% more, gaining a fat net mana of ~1000, if i'm reading it right. Vs cleansers, you'd only get the 30% drain as far as burning their mana because you'd cast it right away.

I'm guessing casters will have a lot more mana in WLK. I'm seeing a lot of spells with 2000+ mana costs. It's interesting because while HP went up a lot in BC, mana did not.

hah...thats pretty much what i did. except I got master's call (ZOMG AWESOME).

http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=cVbRzZcxVbovz0eoxkAoe

though I always think it's dumb when ppl say rather matter of factly "this is the such and such spec of the future".

this one seems good too:
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=cVbRzZcxVbovz0eoxkAoe

and as xar said, we dont really know what exotic pets will bring. nor do we know how valuable crits on pet abilities will be, since they will likely be getting new ones.

i think surv could actually be pretty powerful in pvp but its a little deceptive. explosive shot is about 1500 dmg which is a lot and is good as long as you dont break CC. it probably can't crit but it would be very very nasty if it could. wyvern at 80 deals a considerable amount of damage. +15% crit on kill shot is what stands out to me though for pvp. That gives a nasty finishing shot; it can crit for ~5000 damage with a high crit chance. Less if the target is above 20% but still substantial. The control in surv has always been tempting, but MT sucked and there was nothing down there besides readiness/expose that was tempting enough. I can think of some nasty combos using surv's burst shots (explosive + kill + aimed/MS/AS), plus bear trap (i expect that trap talents will include it), plus wyvern/readiness. I just wish I could get Master's Call without sacrificing Aimed.

I wonder how far bear trap will go towards fixing a lot of hunters' problems in arena. It seems like it will be undeniably awesome. Kill Shot brings much needed on-the-run damage, as well as a much needed finisher. The changes in tier positions of the MM tree also makes a huge difference.

I also assume that Aspect of the wild is 135 resis to nature, rather than 70 as in wowhead (pally and shaman resist auras are all 135). 135 might actually be enough to use vs rogues to hope for some crip resists.

Man...now i want to lvl hunter, pally, and rogue!

recheck your math. itll be 23-30 mana per SECOND, not per 5.

Oh shit you're right. 120-150 mp5. That's actually really good then, but I still don't see a lot of hunters wanting to spec survival.
