Had a question for you: what spec will you be while leveling and why? I'm farming marks for s2 weapons right now and I'm not really sure what  weapons to get. I was combat swords from 1-52 and I've been assassination (mut) since. While mutilate is fun, it's kinda gay when a poison doesn't proc during cheap shot or having to wait for 60 energy to use my primary attack. I'm not all that worried about pvp, pretty much just leveling as I plan on leveling every character I have just for gold (I really hate doing dailies after I hit exalted with said faction) Many will say dailies are better gold, but in netherstorm/smv I was averaging around 300g/hour on my paladin from selling rewards/drops and mining along the way. I haven't touched either on my rogue yet and she's already 70 with most of blade's edge to go.

DAGGERS 4 LIFE

Combat swords is the classic rogue leveling spec, but I'm going daggers personally. I like the playstyle more, I like the improved stealth. I like to PVP a lot when I level.

I went 60-70 as mutilate and had no problems. This time I'm going Subtlety daggers. Hemo is normalized now to not penalize fast weapons.

I would have to say that my biggest pet peeve is the phrase "pet peeve."

I'm looking at 5/51/5 then picking up ruthlessness, blood spatter, lethality as I level. Am I missing something?

are you sure about hemo?  i have seen no patch changes to this effect.

I have also been a dagger rogue at heart.  I actually dislike the changes to mutilate and the assass tree; I thought mutilate from behind and find weakness were fun.  Now the spec is annoying as hell because it's all about managing the HfB timer and maximizing cut to the chase/SnD and rupture timers.

I think I would go subt daggers as while, since that's where the real dagger spec is now.  Also, like roark, I like to pvp while I level.

My Leveling build

I'll probably shift points from setup into Honor among thieves at 80, along with getting lethality.  I haven't really figured out how to make good use of shadow dance though- I guess it'll be better when they remove the 2 sec ambush CD from it and make it easier on the UI.

I think shadow dance when fixed will be a good improvement to subt; before the patch subt really lacked good burst; shadow dance + the option to backstab adds that needed burst.

Though I think I'm not going to level my rogue until later; I've sorta decided to level my hunter first.  What about you roark?

Paul, don't know if you've ever had it... but Setup is total garbage.

Honor Among Thieves is AMAZING. It's basically Seal fate, but you also get points for group crits. It's pretty much required for Sub Daggers.

I also think Waylay is pretty good for Ambushing people running by on mounts. Gets a slow on them right away so you don't have to just pray for a poison proc. I don't have 5/5 in relentless strikes. So annoyed they changed it from 1 point to 5, bastards.

The backstab glyph and the Evis glyph will be awesome for leveling.

I'm also still not good with using Shadowdance. I've tried a bunch of macros and can't get things to work right. It really should just bring up a new bar.

Probably not leveling my rogue first... Roark comes first. Then I dunno, DK, rogue, druid, paladin...

setup is awesome for solo grinding.  but yeah it's pretty much garbage for anything else.

honor among thieves isn't great for soloing.  I don't think it works on your own crits, though I only have one point in it right now so it's hard to tell.  i haven't noticed that I ever get a point while soloing, though I haven't paid close attention.

so, like i said, take setup for leveling and HAT for end-game.  though I guess if HAT does indeed go off your own crits, i'd take both.

waylay is pretty retarded IMO.  it only comes into effect at your opener or during SD; and even in those cases doesn't have an overwhelming effect.  for catching mounts, I'd rather ambush->shiv or even ambush->deadly throw if they somehow manage to get out of range in the space of the 1 sec GCD.

5/5 relentless is also required in my book; like a mutilate build, you are counting on relentless as a significant source of energy gain since you'll be building combos and using finishers so often.  given the right group (ie high crit classes like frost mage, holy paladin, hunter, rogue) you could get 5 CP's every 5 seecs or so.  that's a lot of evisc damage (it's so good they boosted evisc damage or all these CP's wouldn't really matter much) and energy regain from relentless.  I think of 5 pts for relentless as a tradeoff for MoD and camo being less points now.

I can't wait for lethality though, sucks not having it in a current subt build.

HAT definitely works on your own crits. It's basically seal fate.
